Strictly speaking, I don’t think he said he was only losing one finger, just that he wasn’t going to have 10 anymore. I suppose we can take the fact he referred to himself as having his last day as a 10- fingered human instead of a two-handed human as a sign that he will probably get to keep more than five.

10 fingers leaves a lot of room for mistakes. Won’t be the first or last to lose one or two.
The sheet metal shop I used to work at had a record of 2 fingers per year between the press brake and shear operators - between about 50 -100 people
. #OSHA
At least he has a somewhat cool story to go along with it.
